1 cup oatmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 1/2 cups chopped apples or 3/4 cup apple butter
1/2 cup sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the oatmeal, salt, flour, and cinnamon (if using).
- Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pat half of the mixture into an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- Layer the chopped apples or apple butter on top of the bottom layer, followed by sprinkling sugar over the apples.
- Crumble the remaining mixture on top to create a nice crust.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until browned.
Notes
Note: If using apple butter, you may need to use less cinnamon and adjust sugar to taste.
